Lately I haven't been sleeping very well, and find that I'm daydreaming more throughout the day than during the night... I'm hoping it's not a precursor to maladaptive daydreaming and have been busy researching the differences between the two- If you're going through something similar, here's a couple resources that helped me kind of ground myself and learn more ab the dif types of daydreaming:
- https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5962718/ (clinical study)
- https://www.discussingpsychology.com/maladaptive-daydreaming-vs-daydreaming/ (MD vs ID vs daydreaming)
- https://www.discussingpsychology.com/the-structured-clinical-interview-for-maladaptive-daydreaming/ (Self test)
Lmk if you've experienced something similar and/or if the resources help you out at all!
About once a week I have a dream about cheating on my partner, something I've never done in any relationship. The person I cheat with is always a friend I had back in high school 10+ years ago) who I liked but nothing ever happened with them. Usually in my dreams with them there is just a strong romantic interest that feels wrong, nothing intimate ever happens. However, I've just woken up from a nap where we were fully intimate. I don't talk to this person nor keep up with their life and I am puzzled about why it is them who keeps popping up in my dreams. It almost feels like a real relationship at this point, just in an alternate reality. And it certainly feels like something I'm hiding from my partner as it's been going on about a year at this point.
Curious to see if anyone has had similar experiences with talking/dialogue in dreams:
When I’m dreaming, I know that dialogue occurs and I’m able to converse with people in the dreamscape. However! When I wake up and think back on a dream (usually particularly good/calm dreams) it feels like I’m talking through rubber to get any words out. Or that my mouth is filled with honey. Like how fighting in a dream feels like slow motion, looking back on my dreams feels like I’m talking in slow motion.
Has anyone experienced something similar? I’ve noticed if I think back to panic-inducing dreams, I’m able to understand that I spoke coherently. It’s only in the easy going dreams where thinking back to what I actually said is extremely difficult and feels like I’m talking with honey in my mouth in a vat of molasses lol
I seen this done once on here before. And I tried to put myself in the gridlock on the highway or in a city and I just couldn’t pull it off.
So how about we all try to meet up in Time Square, New York City. I’m sure everyone has an idea what that looks like. So these next couple nights before bed envision yourself there. Maybe look at some pictures before you close your eyes and place yourself there. Let’s meet up at the bottom of the red stairs all the way to the left.
I’m curious to see if anyone can pull it off.
See ya there :)
Go to bed. Close your eyes. With your minds eye, see your room and your bed and yourself as you lie there, maybe from a vantage point on the ceiling or something.
Clock all the real world details you can, but remember to keep your eyes shut. ( the messy pile of clothes there, the dresser over there, there’s the cat, the window, etc.)
Now, if you watch your own self like this until your body falls asleep, and you know it’s out like a light, you should be able to take your dream self out for a spin in the real world. Limitlessly.
You can fly, go through walls etc. (some have said at this point you should try to avoid being seen by others as they will actually see something where you are and it could be disturbing to them ).
This is like remote viewing I guess.
Hi dreamers! Now that our club has been hitting the gas, let’s put our subconsciouses to the test.
TONIGHT, let's dream of a world-wide gridlock:
👉 a massive traffic jam across time & space.
What will you drive (or ride)? Bringing snacks? Skydiving in instead?
Come back tomorrow morning & let us know who or what showed up in your dreams! 😶🌫️
(This is something I’ve always wanted to try and am super excited to share this experiment with you for the very first time!!)
I’ll be cruising down Route 66 in a blue & white ‘67 Ford Shelby. See you there! 🛣️
This month’s April Dream Themes so far are full of new landscapes, faulty vehicles, spiritual happenings, and visits from familiar (and unfamiliar) faces.
Now that we have a feel of how our collective dream log is forming, let's see where we can take things... How much control do you have over your dream self?
Choose a challenge below and see if you can land in one of these dreamscapes this month:
☁️ Option 1: “In-Between Worlds”
Have you ever dreamed of being stuck between places, identities, or even dimensions? Think floating moons, half-familiar homes, or running but not moving.
This theme taps into:
- Lucid confusion
- Liminal dream spaces
- Transportation gone wrong
- Feeling voiceless or out of body
Perfect for dreamers who feel like they’re caught in a transition: emotionally, spiritually, or spatially.
🎭 Option 2: “People Who Visit Us”
This one’s all about the dream guests; friends you haven’t seen in years, strangers you fall in love with, or parents showing up with talking chicken cards.
This theme invites:
- Relational dreams
- Figures from the past
- New dream characters
- Unresolved or joyful connections
Would be great for exploring how our relationships surface in subconscious form, and what those dream interactions might be trying to tell us.
Happy Dreaming! 🌙
With this Spring Equinox, I can’t help but think about the balance it brings. It’s funny how the changing of seasons can mirror our own internal shifts, when the world starts to thaw and stretch toward new light, we often feel that tug to do the same.
Lately my dreams have felt more vivid, and seem to carry a refreshed sense of deep symbolism. Perhaps they’re reflecting my own desires for change or the seeds of new intentions being planted in our lives....Now I just need to work on remembering them by morning, ha.
Just my musings this lovely afternoon. I am very much looking forward to reading your dreams and sharing more here as well. Happy Spring, all!
Are y’all’s dreams in first person or third person? I’ve heard people say either or, but all my dreams usually alternate between both throughout.
Have y'all ever woken up with a song already stuck in your head?? I was talking ab this with my fam the other day and am super curious if others have the same experience (also excited to hopefully find new artists/songs in this thread!!)
